Performance characteristics of centrifugal fans

Jun 17, 2024

As a common ventilation equipment, the performance characteristics of centrifugal fans mainly include the following aspects:

Air volume and pressure
The air volume of a centrifugal fan refers to the amount of fluid conveyed by the fan per unit time, commonly expressed as volumetric flow rate, in units of m ³/s or m ³/h. The air volume is related to the structure, size, and speed of the fan. Wind pressure refers to the effective energy provided by the fan, in pascals. The wind pressure of a centrifugal fan is directly proportional to the square of the rotational speed, and increasing the rotational speed appropriately can increase the wind pressure.

Power and efficiency
The power of a centrifugal fan refers to the energy consumed per unit time, often expressed in kilowatts. The ratio of the effective power of the fan to the shaft power is the efficiency of the fan, which reflects the economic efficiency of the fan's operation.

speed
The speed of a centrifugal fan can be directly measured using a tachometer, and its value is expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm). The speed of the fan determines the size of the air volume and pressure, so when selecting a fan, it is necessary to determine the appropriate speed based on actual needs.

Structure and stability
A centrifugal fan is composed of a casing, rotor components, sealing components, bearings, lubrication devices, and other auxiliary components. It has the advantages of a novel and compact structure, low vibration, light weight, easy installation and maintenance, and long service life. In addition, centrifugal fans have a small moment of inertia, high dynamic balance accuracy, and smooth operation. The performance indicators in the factory's internal control standards are higher than the fan industry standards, ensuring the long-term stable operation of the fan.

Maintenance and applicability
Some models of centrifugal fans can be equipped with cleaning doors, which do not require disassembly for maintenance and cleaning, saving time and effort. Moreover, the casing and impeller are made of high-quality steel plates, making the fan more sturdy. The surface of the entire machine is treated with spray coating, which has strong oxidation resistance and is not easily corroded. Centrifugal fans are suitable for various occasions, such as industrial and mining plants, civil buildings, large public buildings, power plants, etc., and can be used as supporting equipment for air treatment facilities and hot air circulation facilities.

noise control
The noise generated by centrifugal fans during operation is relatively low, which is due to the reasonable impeller angle design based on aerodynamics. There is no mechanical friction during operation, and the reasonable blade profile minimizes the noise.

Application scope
Centrifugal fans are commonly used for ventilation and smoke exhaust in hotels, restaurants, auditoriums, cinemas, basements, factories, mining enterprises, office buildings, and other places, especially in high-rise buildings where fire smoke exhaust is widely used.
